Membership

We believe God desires all believers to be plugged into a local church for growth, fellowship, and shepherding. At New Life, we believe that church membership is the commitment to serve and love those in our local church community, and to acknowledge that we need the help of those in our church to grow in our walks in faith.

Membership Classes
We run a 3-part membership class several times in the year during the 11:15am Sunday School hour. This class goes over the biblical basics of the Gospel, God’s design for the local church, and what it means to be meaningful involved in church life (Heb 10:24-25; 1 Pet 5:2).

Baptism
Baptism is a means to declare publicly that you are a follower of Jesus and that you identify with His universal church. If you’re a genuine believer and have not yet been baptized, we will walk you through that process (Acts 2:38; Matt. 3:15).

Church Commitment
We summarize the New Testament calling for church commitment with a series of questions:

  1. Lordship – Do you confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and commit to love and serve Him above all else so your life may glorify God? (Rom 10:9; Matt 22:37-40)
  2. Christlikeness – Do you commit to pursue personal holiness and self-control so your life increasingly displays Christ’s transformative power? (1 Pet 1:14-16; Rom 6:1-4)
  3. Service – Do you commit to serve New Life with your time, talents, and treasure so the church’s ministry may be strengthened both locally and globally? (Eph 4:11-16; Rom 12:4-8; 2 Cor 9:6-8)
  4. Assembly – Do you commit to prioritize Sunday service and a mid-week small group/Bible study so you can receive the benefits of worship, fellowship, and accountability? (Heb 10:24-25; Gal 6:1-2)
  5. Teachability – Do you commit to give and receive instruction, encouragement, and exhortation so New Life can mature together in truth, love, and humility? (Eph 4:15; Matt 18:15-18)
  6. Authority – Do you commit to submit to the elders’ leadership and shepherding so they may watch over your soul with joy and not grief? (Heb 13:17; 1 These 5:12-13)
  7. Doctrine – Do you commit to not promote doctrines contrary to what we teach so New Life may maintain theological and practical unity? (Eph 4:1-6; 2 Tim 1:13-14)
  8. Peace & Reconciliation – Do you commit to loving reconciliation with other believers at New Life so the peace and unity of Christ may be displayed? (Matt 5:23-24; Col 3:13)
  9. Evangelism – Do you commit to share the Gospel with those around you so others may come to trust in Jesus as their Lord and Savior? (Matt 28:18-20; Matt 5:16)
  10. Prayer & God’s Strength – Do you commit to prayerfully for this local church and ask for the Lord’s help to live a faithful Christian life so that God alone may get the glory? (Phil 2:12-13; Gal 5:16)
